I began working with kids when I was still a kid myself. I was 16 and volunteering in the Children's Ministry at our church. Since then, I've spent the last 20-plus years working in childcare centers, afterschool programs, as an Instructional Assistant, as a Substitute Teacher, and most recently as a middle school teacher. All this experience showed me different styles of teaching and managing learning spaces. I designed several programs, curricula, and lessons to meet the needs of the institution and my students.

My life's journey is a path that includes social-emotional learning, DEI&B, and culturally responsive practices. As a 7th-grade ELA teacher, I coached my grade-level team on incorporating SEL methods and strategies in their classrooms. The first full year of in-person instruction since the pandemic saw our team having the lowest incidents of reported negative behaviors in the school, our students making great academic gains, and positive social cohesion among students and teachers.
